 THE CHRISTMAS CAROL 2010

When I was watching Miss Julianna Avdeyeva on TV receiveing her First Prize and her Gold Medal at the Chopin Piano Competition 2010 I was glad to think that I also was awarded a Gold Medal - for Contributing to the Defense of Poland - this year as well. It was my first source of joy in 2010.

The other one was the second edition of my book „Prince Charles, the Great-great-grandson of a Polish Lady". This book which includes the story of the visit of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, his Spouse, in Poland in March 2010, was published by Teresa and Piotr, the owners of the Poznań Publishing House „Sorus". Somehow they do not complain too much of a łąck of interest for that book but it may be due onły to their being extremely nice people (the book is available at the „empik" book stores).

The year 2010 was such a phenomenon that you cannot say „good bye" to it in a łight-hearted mood. The Smoleńsk, Russia, air crash that resulted in the death of the President of Poland, his Spouse and 94 other people including Yery Important Ones, the torrential floods resembling the biblical Deluge, the strident quarrels on Polish TV monitors, the assassination of a mań active in the opposition party Law and Justice, all of that happened in that one year. We had only one lucky event - the fact that the autocratic Leader and Guru of that party, the twin brother of the deceased President, has not won the Presidency of Poland.

Herę I have to refer to my wife, Elizabeth, because of her two predictions that came true. She was the first person in Poland to predict, right after the Smoleńsk crash, that the President's remains would be buried at the Wawel castle in Cracow, the sacred burial place of the Polish Kings. That caused one of the sharpest controversies in the Polish history because many people thought of it as a sacrilege. Eiizabeth also predicted why the Leader-Guru would never change his innermost naturę. „It's not a question of połitics - she said - it's a question of biology. As an identical twin brother of the former President hę not only THINKS of himself as a carnal part of him but hę FEELS it. Sińce his brother is no longer there hę feels hę is HIM. As such, hę is surę that hę AUTOMATICALLY should be President of Poland. The fact that hę is not, although hę received eight million votes (his opponent, Mr Bronisław Komorowski, got almost nine million) is regarded by him as the biggest injustice inflicted upon him by history. It's why hę also cannot stand Lech Wałęsa. 'For Chrisfs sake' - hę may think - why of all things should this bumpkin, this sort of an electrician of the Gdańsk Shipyard and most probably an agent of the Communist Secret Police should become the leader of 'Solidarity' with its 10-milłion membership, the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, the doctor honoris causa of numerous uniyersities and the mań as world famous as Pope John Paul H while we, real intellectuals, arę far from that. As to Mr Komorowski's Presidential yictory, the Leader-Guru could not forgive himself his own 'error' to have congratulated him even before it was officially confirmed. After having regained his senses, hę attacked the new President in the most scandalous manner, refusing to acknowledge his being President of Poland and declaring publicly that ,Komorowski' should 'disappear from the political life of Poland once and for all'. Hę also fired from his party Ms Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska, MP, Chief of his Election Campain who according to most polis brought him his 8 million votes 'but not his finał victory'".

Thafs what my Elizabeth thinks and I agree with her. Otherwise eyerything is all right, Poland continues to exist and even to flourish while retired persons receive regularly their pensions. Being surę against all odds that this will not change we wish All of You a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
